Major Features Released in Q2 2024
Increase orders
1. ORDER WITH GOOGLE ENHANCED REDIRECT
As Google transitions its embedded ordering experience to an enhanced redirect experience, Olo will continue to help funnel guests to customers’ direct ordering channels.
By building and maintaining an integration that provides Google with real-time location + menu updates, conversion tokens, and action links, this enhancement will help brands drive more direct orders—resulting in more revenue, a better guest experience, and more actionable, first-party guest data.
2. MARKETING A/B TESTING EMAIL CAMPAIGNS
Olo Engage customers using the Marketing solution can quickly and easily set up email tests to try variations in subject lines or email content to ensure the best-converting messaging gets leveraged for guest engagement initiatives.
The platform automatically creates randomized test groups from the applicable Segment or List for each campaign, produces a comparison report, and pushes the majority of sends to the winning variation.

3. POS MENU BUILDER FOR BRANDS USING TOAST
Brands leveraging Toast POS systems can now import menus to Olo in less than a day, speeding up the onboarding process for new customers and allowing existing customers to quickly launch new menus.
Brands simply activate the relevant menu filters and communicate additional filtering requirements to Olo, saving time + money while eliminating pain points that often arise when switching online ordering platforms.
4. CAPACITY MANAGEMENT RULES ENGINE
To help operators avoid overwhelming kitchens and mistiming order fulfillment for guests and delivery drivers, Olo’s capacity management rules engine allows brands to configure settings based on a variety of criteria—including order volume, basket size, and subtotal.
Location-level rules can be set up with an easy-to-use interface in the Olo Dashboard and used to trigger appropriate actions to manage capacity—including extending lead times, applying quote minimums, or disallowing orders.

5. ABILITY FOR GUESTS TO ADD RECENT + FREQUENTLY ORDERED ITEMS TO BASKET
Available on Serve—Olo’s whitelabel ordering engine—and custom front-ends via the Ordering API, this feature allows guests to quickly and easily add recent items to their order.
Recent items are displayed prominently and allow guests to add individual items instead of repeating their entire order. The Recent Items section on Serve personalizes using the guest's first name and shows the four most recent items at the top of the menu, reflecting location-level item availability and imagery + pricing.
6. ABILITY TO ADD MODIFIER IMAGES VIA OLO SERVE
Customers using Olo’s whitelabel ordering interface can now assign modifier images via the Menu Image Manager in the Olo Dashboard, allowing guests to visualize their customizations as they modify + place their order. Modifier images play a crucial role in enhancing the user experience, providing visual cues that boost engagement.
7. CATERING+ ENHANCED ORDER MANAGEMENT
Olo has added the ability for select Switchboard users to apply a subtotal discount to baskets for catering orders in order to surprise and delight high-value guests. Applied discounts do not require coupon or promo codes, which means guests can attempt to reapply the discount on future baskets.
Operators can also enable easy payment for delivery orders by allowing the guest to pay using their personal device rather than reciting credit card information over the phone.
Helping Brands Accelerate the Future by Consolidating On- and Off-Premise Payment Processing
In addition to rolling out 19 enhancements in Q2, we expanded our POS partnerships to get one step closer to achieving the “holy grail” of restaurant marketing: reaching every single guest by capturing data on every transaction.

INCREASE ORDERS
8. CATERING+ TAX EXEMPT CHECKOUT
Guests ordering on behalf of tax-exempt status organizations will see that pricing reflected in the ordering experience across Olo’s whitelabel ordering interface as well as custom front-ends.
STREAMLINE OPERATIONS
9. TIERED MENU PRICING FOR DIRECT DELIVERY
Brands now have the flexibility to configure different menu prices for Direct Delivery (Delivery and Dispatch Orders) orders using a fixed markup or POS-driven strategy. Fixed markup will inflate the entire menu for a given store. Alternatively, brands may use native functionality in their POS to configure Direct Delivery prices for menu items, and map those to menu items in Olo.
10. OLO PAY MERCHANT ACCOUNT HEALTH
The Olo Dashboard now features a Merchant Accounts page, which clearly identifies merchant accounts whose information needs to be updated and allows merchants to easily access, review, and update their accounts safely without having to provide sensitive information via email or phone.
11. DISPATCH PROOF OF DELIVERY
This enhancement to the Olo Dispatch API provides greater visibility for operators by surfacing proof of delivery data to Olo.
12. RAILS STAFF TIPS POS SYNC
Olo surfaces staff tips from our reconciliation data and passes it along to brands, helping them streamline reconciliation processes, simplify financial reporting, and reduce errors while also ensuring fair and accurate tip allocation across team members.
13. ORDERING STORE HOURS API
This feature allows Olo’s customers and partners to retrieve and update store hours through API endpoints, ensuring updates outside of the Olo platform are accurately synched in real time.
14. DASHBOARD UNIFICATION FOR OLO ORDER + ENGAGE SUITES
Customers using the Olo Order and Engage suites can sign into both platforms with a single set of login credentials, minimizing the need to manage multiple passwords and making it easier to access the tools they need.
15. OLO ENGAGE INTEGRATION FOR OPEN TABLE
Customers can now seamlessly import data from OpenTable into Olo’s Guest Data Platform (GDP)—enabling them to incorporate OpenTable data in segments, computed properties, marketing campaigns + automations, and reporting.
16. NEW SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT KIT (SDK) FOR PROMOTIONS SPEC 2.0
This additional tooling increases the flexibility of the Olo platform, making it even easier for both customers’ and partners’ development teams to integrate their tech stacks with Olo.
IMPROVE GUEST EXPERIENCES
17. WAITLIST API ENHANCEMENTS
Information such as first name and party size can be captured in the waitlist and displayed with on-premise digital signage boards to update guests on the status of their wait time and place in line. This provides guests with visibility and transparency into where they are on the waitlist without having to ask a host and provides brands with a more elegant waitlist solution.
18. ABILITY TO CREATE LOYALTY ACCOUNT FROM BORDERLESS ACCOUNT
Guests can now easily create and link a new loyalty account directly from their Borderless account. This encourages more loyalty participation and allows guests to earn and redeem loyalty rewards while using Borderless' passwordless sign-in on future orders.
19. ABILITY TO LINK EXISTING LOYALTY ACCOUNT TO AN EXISTING BORDERLESS ACCOUNT
Guests can now easily create and link a new loyalty account directly from their Borderless account. This encourages more loyalty participation and allows guests to earn and redeem loyalty rewards while using Borderless' passwordless sign-in on future orders.
